The characteristics of our honey are determined by the varied flora found in the mountain range, which is typically Mediterranean and gives it a unique quality. Our hives are located in a vast non-agricultural area, where the use of pesticides and agrochemicals is absent, as is pollution from industrial or urban sources.
In terms of woodland, the Serra de Portel is dominated by montado, with holm oak and cork oak as the predominant trees. This ecosystem supports a varied, spontaneous flora that is typically wild and Mediterranean in character, with lavender and rockrose among the predominant plants. These plants are rich in nectar and pollen and are responsible for the characteristics of our products.
