Product Description:

A Portuguese tradition, roasted in a wood-fired oven and prepared by those who know the true taste of Negrais.

Discover authentic Negrais-Style Roast Suckling Pig, a Portuguese culinary speciality prepared by Afonso dos Leitões in Negrais, in the Sintra region.

Its distinctive flavour comes from the combination of traditional preparation, characteristic seasoning and roasting in a wood-fired oven, following a family recipe passed down through generations.

Important note about weight: This product is half a suckling pig (2.5–3.5 kg), sold per unit and not by the kilogram. The actual weight varies from batch to batch, while the price per unit remains fixed.

What makes Negrais suckling pig distinctive?

Unlike Bairrada suckling pig, traditionally roasted on a spit, Negrais suckling pig is opened and flattened, then roasted on a grill in a wood-fired oven.

Its more heavily seasoned flavour and cooking method give it a distinct identity, making it a particularly popular speciality for family meals, celebrations and special occasions.

Tradition, experience and quality control

Afonso dos Leitões is a company specialising in raising, slaughtering, processing and selling suckling pig.

Its production facilities include cold-storage rooms, wood-fired ovens and climate-controlled packaging rooms, with a food safety system based on the HACCP methodology.

This integrated operation makes it possible to oversee the various stages of production, from raising the animals to preparing and packaging the final product.

Why choose this suckling pig?
