Baronia de Alvito Grande Escolha Red DOC

Alvito, the first Barony of Portugal.

On April 24, 1475, King Afonso V granted Dr. João Fernandes da Silveira, husband of D. Maria de Sousa Lobo, the title of Baron, making Alvito the “head” of the first barony established in Portugal.

Selected from the finest red wines of the 2021 harvest, it is based on the Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet grape varieties. Intense garnet color, it was aged for 8 months in French and American oak barrels.

Very complex and fruity, with notes of stewed fruit. Full-bodied on the palate, with the oak and fruit in perfect harmony; the finish is long, persistent, and lightly spicy.
