Our honey’s characteristics are determined by the varied, typically Mediterranean flora found in the mountains, giving it a unique quality. Our hives are located in a vast non-agricultural area where the use of pesticides and phytopharmaceuticals is absent, as is pollution from industrial or urban sources.
In terms of forest cover, Serra de Portel is dominated by montado, where holm oak and cork oak prevail. It is within this ecosystem that spontaneous and varied flora develops, typically wild and Mediterranean in character, with rosemary and rockrose predominating, among others. This flora is rich in nectar and pollen, giving our products their distinctive characteristics.
